Graphics project studying gender role models and portrayal, using quotes from an experiment asking viewers to create adult and child responses to gender. 

 

The final sculptures to be displayed in exhibition, using this statement for viewers:

 

"Through a study into gender portrayal and stereotypes, these Russian Nesting Dolls have been created to demonstrate how an adult can view gender, and how their words can affect a child’s interpretation of gender, and how this may change as we grow up and mimic role models.

Each quote has been taken anonymously from an adult participant, who has given their mature interpretation of ‘male’ and ‘female’, then provided what they used to think as children.

Viewers are encouraged to move the dolls, children may play with them, and open up the adult dolls to view the child’s perspective inside, and interpret quotes and meanings in their own way."
